OGDEN - The Utah Commission on Volunteers have announced therecipients of the 2013 Northern Region Volunteer Recognition Awards:
Catholic Community Services Ogden, Nonprofit VolunteerProgram of the Year Joyce Somers, Adult Volunteer of the Year
The three region award winners will be honored Feb. 27 atthe 2013 Volunteer Recognition and Awards Luncheon, 12:30 p.m., in Ballroom Bof the Shepherd Union Building at Weber State University.
The Utah Commission on Volunteers is pleased to announce theluncheon keynote speaker will be Ann Milner, former president of Weber StateUniversity. Milner will be highlighting the importance of volunteerism in Utah.She is scheduled to speak at 1:00 p.m.
In conjunction with the luncheon, the Utah Commission onVolunteers will be hosting the Lt. Governor’s Northern Region Conference onService on the same date and at the same location from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.The Conference is dedicated to improving volunteer management in Utah andattendees represent the nonprofit, government, faith-based, and corporatesectors.
Kicking off the conference will be a keynote address by MegJohnson, a motivational speaker, author, artist, teacher, and nonprofitfounder. Ms. Johnson is a quadriplegic whose passion and excitement for life isevident in her motto, "When life gets too hard to stand, just keep onrollin'!"
The general session day will be filled with 12 workshops forattendees to choose from, each of which was chosen to represent the varyingneeds of conference attendees. Workshop topics are centered on volunteermanagement in Utah, the
